Darien Home Burglarized After Solicitors Ask About Roof
The burglary took place May 9 in Darien.

Darien, IL - Darien police are investigating a home burglary that took place between 4 and 8 p.m. May 9 in the 1900 block of 71st Street.
Around 4 p.m., two men knocked on the front door of a house and told a babysitter that the home needed a new roof, according to the City of Darien.
The babysitter may have told the men the homeowners weren't there, and the men left the property.

The babysitter and a child left the home, and the homeowner returned around 8 p.m. to find the home had been burglarized, the city reports. The burglars may have entered through a rear sliding door, and jewelry was reported missing.
Anyone with information about this crime is asked to call the detective division of the Darien Police Department at 630-353-8339.

Residents are asked to call 911 to report any door-to-door solicitor who doesn't have a license.
