Darien Man Accused Of Child Sexual Exploitation
Inappropriate sexual conduct occurred at a house in Darien, police said.

DARIEN, IL – A Darien man has been arrested on felony charges of sexual exploitation of a child under the age of 13, local police said.
Daniel Shellstrom, 58, remains in the DuPage County Jail, according to the jail's website. Tax records show that Shellstrom's house is in the 6700 block of South Bentley Avenue.
Darien police released information about the case in its monthly report on Thursday. The report was contained in the meeting agenda packet for the City Council.

On July 7, officers were informed that inappropriate sexual conduct had occurred at a home in Darien, the report said. An investigation revealed credible allegations against Shellstrom, who was convicted of a similar offense in 1994 in Naperville, police said.
Through the efforts of Darien detectives and partner agencies, Shellstrom was found in Rockford and arrested without any problems, police said. He was charged with two counts of predatory criminal sexual assault of a child and one count of sexual exploitation of a child.

Darien police said they closely coordinated with the DuPage County Children's Advocacy Center and in collaboration with the Indiana Department of Child Services.
