Darien May Create Finance Director Post

DARIEN, IL – Darien aldermen plan to vote Monday on creating the position of finance director

Julie Saenz, the city's accounting manager, is set to be promoted to that post, according to city records.

The city also plans to create a part-time position of accounting clerk, who would report to the finance director.

The city provided several reasons for adding the finance director and accounting clerk positions:

• Increase internal controls
• Provide stability in the finance department by providing growth to retain employees. Without this opportunity, the accounting manager would seek career growth as a finance director elsewhere.
• Provide financial backup by having a second employee able to perform payroll, accounting transactions and journal entries, among other things.
• Allow the finance director to accomplish certain goals in the city's strategic plan.
