Darien Police Reports: Home Burglary, Theft, Property Damage

Darien Police Department reported crimes through May 22.

A Hinsdale South High School student made a report with the school resource officer that her debit card and $10 were stolen from her wallet, which was in an unsecured area during a school assembly. The debit card was used at various vending machines in the school. This occurred May 20 between 8:30 and 10:40 a.m.

Michael Holmes Jr., 21 of the 14400 block of S. Kolin Avenue in Midlothian, was cited May 24 on a local ordinance of Soliciting Without a City Permit and released on scene. Holmes was advised of how to obtain a proper city permit. Holmes was soliciting in the area of Williams Street and Plainfield Road for his employer, Insight Pest Solutions.

Shaunice Williams, 30 of the 1800 block of S. Lawndale in Chicago, was arrested May 24 and charged with driving with a suspended license and operating an uninsured motor vehicle and giving a warning for operating a motor vehicle with expired registration at the intersection of Plainfield Road and 75th Street. Williams was processed and released with a court date of July 7 at the Downers Grove Field Court.

A resident in the 8300 block of Portsmouth Drive reported that between May 20 at about 5 p.m. and May 23 around 3 p.m., someone damaged a satellite dish mounted on a pole. Estimated value of damage is unknown.

Between May 23 at 5 p.m. and May 24 at 6:20 a.m. at a construction site in the 900 block of N. Frontage Road, someone stole copper tubing. There were no signs of forced entry to the property. Estimated loss value of $3,840.

Michelle Calomino, 37 of the 4800 S. Lockwood in Chicago, was arrested May 26 and charged with felony retail theft when she tried to remove nine packages of brats past the last point of sale from Jewel Osco at 7335 Cass Ave. Calomino was processed and transported to the DuPage County Jail in Wheaton to await bond hearing. Estimated value $54.

Between the hours of 5:30 a.m. and 3:30 p.m. May 27, someone entered through a rear door to a locked home in the 1400 block of Sequoia Lane. A TV, a laptop and numerous power tools were stolen. No one was home at the time of the burglary. Estimated loss value $5,635.

Jeffrey Woodrick, 50 of the 2300 block of Sokol Court in Darien, was arrested May 28 at his home and charged with possession of a firearm without a valid FOID Card. Woodrick was processed and released with a court date of June 21 in Wheaton.

Someone used white spray paint to vandalize the rear wall of a building located in the 7400 block of Cass Avenue. The painted design appears to be old and illegible and does not appear to be gang related.
