DARIEN, IL – Home Run Inn Pizzeria is seeking Darien's approval for an expansion, citing changing customer patterns.

"Home Run Inn has witnessed a change in the customer dynamic in the last two years, as many businesses have," architect Jonathon Hague said in an April letter to Darien officials. "This change has brought about the need to expand and create a safe area for both pick-up areas for automobiles and customers."

This will include an increase to the carryout area and a canopy, Hague said. These changes need city approval because of building setback regulations.

The City Council plans to vote on the request at its meeting Monday night. In May, the city's Planning and Zoning Commission unanimously recommended it.

The restaurant has been in operation since 1987. It is in the Chestnut Court shopping center on the southeast corner of 75th Street and Lemont Road.
