Darien Restaurant Wants Liquor License

The eatery is seeking to match the standards of its competitors, its manager said.

DARIEN, IL – Jam n' Jelly, a breakfast and lunch restaurant in Darien, wants a city liquor license.

Mayor Joseph Marchese, who is also the city's liquor commissioner, supports the request.

The City Council plans to vote on the issue at its meeting Monday.

Jam n' Jelly, which also has a location in Woodridge, is at the Chestnut Court shopping center at 7511 Lemont Road in Darien.

In a November letter to Darien officials, Jam n' Jelly manager Ria Maglaris said the restaurant would mainly serve mimosas and bloody marys. The restaurant would also have wine and beer, she said.

The restaurant does not have a bar, so drinks would be served to tables, Maglaris said.

"We believe that by acquiring this license, it will meet the demand of the community and match the standards of our competitors," she said.
