Darien's 2016 Citizen of the Year: Nominations Are Open

Submit your nominee by Jan. 3.

Darien has gathered a committee to name the next Darien Citizen of the Year, and they’re looking for nominations.

Nominees, the committee explains on the City of Darien website, must be current residents of the city and can’t be a current elected official. They’re looking for names of those who have gone above and beyond to make Darien a special place — or, as the city’s motto states, “A Nice Place to Live.”

Chairman Bonnie Kucera, Peggy Radakovitz, Carol Mallers, Merle Salazar and City Council Liason Tina Beilke make up the Citizen of the Year Committee.

They ask that all submissions for this year’s candidates be entered by Jan. 3 of 2017.

There are two ways you can nominate someone for this honor. Submit the form through the City of Darien website here, or print out the form, fill it out and mail it to the City of Darien at 1702 Plainfield Rd.

  • Describe what your nominee has done specifically to make Darien “A Nice Place to Live.”
