DARIEN, IL – For more than three decades, Darien has held a lottery for local nonprofit groups to design the city's vehicle sticker.

But no one took up the city's offer this year.

Darien doesn't mandate such stickers, but has historically asked for a $3 donation, which goes to the group that wins the design lottery.

"For years, we had a number of organizations that competed for the honor of doing the vehicle sticker. For the last two years, the city has designed and issued the vehicle sticker," Mayor Joseph Marchese said at Monday's City Council meeting. "It's basically for the sake of an organization to make money."

City Clerk JoAnne Ragona suggested the City Council take up the future of the sticker at its upcoming annual "goal-setting" session.
