Restaurant Opens Near Darien's Q Bar

The owner told city officials that the deli would be "high-end."

DARIEN, IL – Tony and Tina's Deli opened Saturday in the Darien Plaza, which also includes Q Bar.

The restaurant, 8133 S. Cass Ave., is in the space of the old Uncle Mao's Chinese Restaurant, which closed when the owner retired.

In June, the Darien City Council approved a beer and wine license for Tony and Tina's.

During the meeting, owner Tony Buzinski said the restaurant would sell subs and paninis. He also said his wife may offer charcuterie boards, depending on local interest.

"It's going to be more of a cozy atmosphere," Buzinski told aldermen. "We plan on putting in at least a couple of couches and a fireplace."

In a letter to the city, Buzinski described the deli as "high-end."

In an email Wednesday, the other owner, Tina Buzinski, said the restaurant ended up in a smaller space in Darien Plaza, meaning the couches did not work.
