Safety Concern At Darien Restaurant: Officials
Alderman noted that parents fear their children running onto Cass Avenue.

DARIEN, IL – Darien officials said Monday they were alerted to a safety issue at Buona Beef, which is northeast of Cass Avenue and 75th Street.
The restaurant has an outdoor dining area bordered by a white fence with an opening to the sidewalk along Cass.
Alderwoman Mary Sullivan said the city gave Buona some leeway and easement reduction for the sidewalk.

"He would consistently go outside the gate. He didn't go past the sidewalk," Stompanato said. "The parents were a little concerned. (Buona has) the opening at the end of the path that leads to the sidewalk. If they put a gate there with a latch, that would solve the problem."
Officials said the city has reached out to the owner.
The Buona restaurant chain responded with a statement Wednesday.
"Buona is unaware of any safety issues currently. We look forward to hearing from the city," Buona spokeswoman Brooke Larsen said in an email. "Buona is a family-owned and operated business, and we hold the safety of our guests and team members with the highest regard. We would never do anything to jeopardize the safety at any of our family restaurants. We look forward to working with the city to address their concerns."
