Suspicious Man in Van Approached Children in Darien

Two girls and a boy were approached by a suspicious person around 4 p.m. Nov. 4 near Lakeview Road and Bailey Road.

A man driving a van asked the children, eighth graders and a fifth grader, if they wanted to go to the park with him, according to the Darien Police Department.

The children ignored the man and kept walking, but he continued to follow them through a parking lot. He left without further contact.

The driver is described as a white man, about 40 years old wearing a black turtleneck, police reported. The van was a white work van, similar to a Ford Econoline, with two side tinted windows.

Anyone who sees a suspicious car or person should call 911 right away and give a good description. If anyone has information about this man or van, contact the Darien Police Department at 630-971-3999.
