Traffic Problems At Darien School: City
A school administrator approached the city about the issue.
DARIEN, IL – Problems with parking and after-school pickup have been brought to the attention of Darien officials, the mayor said at Monday's City Council meeting.
Mayor Joseph Marchese said Mark DeLay Elementary School's assistant principal emailed him and others about it. The official wanted the city to help address the matter and find a solution.
Ward 7 Alderman Thomas Belczak, who represents the neighborhood in question, said, "It appears to me that it's their problem that they need to solve and not us. But if it keeps going on, we may need to have a different police reaction to this problem."

For his part, City Administrator Bryan Vana said the city should consider hiring a traffic consultant.
"If we move cars from A, they're going to go down to B," Vana said. "Nobody wants to create new rules that shift the problem."

He suggested hiring Rosemont-based KLOA, which handles traffic studies for many suburbs.
"At this point, it takes somebody with a lot of knowledge about traffic," Vana said.
The City Council made no decision.
