Villa Park DUI Crash Injures 2 Women: Cops

The victims were sent to a nearby hospital, while the suspect ran away before being captured, authorities said.

VILLA PARK, IL – An intoxicated Villa Park woman crashed into another car Wednesday night, injuring two women, authorities said.

Karina Alonso, 37, faces felony charges in connection with the incident, police said.

About 6:30 p.m., Alonso crossed into oncoming traffic on Westmore Avenue in Villa Park, striking another car head-on, DuPage County prosecutors said in a news release.

Both victims were taken to a nearby hospital for non-life-threatening injuries, police said.

After the crash, Alonso ran away, but was apprehended 10 minutes later, authorities said. Her speech slurred, Alonso was reported to have a blood-alcohol level nearly twice the legal limit.

Police said they found two bottles of tequila in her car.

Alonso was charged with aggravated DUI (fourth violation), failure to report an accident involving personal injury and driving with a suspended license (fourth to ninth offense), all felonies.
