Week Ahead: Indian Boundary YMCA End of Summer Bash

Here’s some of what’s going on in and around Darien for the weekend of Aug. 12-16:

·      Monday, Aug. 12: The Darien Park District’s Monthly Board Meeting will not, repeat not, be held tonight at City Hall as scheduled. The meeting has been pushed to Monday, Aug. 26 and moved to the Darien Park District Community Center (7301 Fairview Avenue) and will immediately precede the regularly scheduled Committee Meeting.

·      Tuesday, Aug. 13: The Indian Boundary YMCA in Downers Grove, which serves Darien residents, has opened registration for fall programs and residents are invited to “a hotdog/hamburger, facility tour, program demonstrations, family fun and to meet our new Sports Director, Aaron Towler” at the End of Summer Bash starting at 5:30 p.m.

·      Wednesday, Aug. 14: It’s the last meeting of the year for the teenagers’ Trading Card Club at the Indian Prairie Library from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m.; after that, presumably, the trading will move to the schoolyard. Grades 7-12 are welcome; no registration is required.

·      Thursday, Aug. 15: Thursday nights are always special at Darien’s Q Bar and Grill, featuring several specials and a guest DJ spinning from 9 p.m. through 1 p.m. Find out more here at the Darien Chamber of Commerce website.

·      Friday, Aug. 16: At the DSRC: “Midnight Madness movie night, Friday, August 16th, 2013: Hang out with family and friends and watch a movie or two on a big screen while floating in the water or just relaxing on a chair. Order food or grill on one of our three grills! The pool will be open from 11 a.m. to midnight!”
