· Saturday, August 3 is the last day of the “Shop Local, Shop Darien Restaurant Week” promotion of the Darien Chamber of Commerce. Get out to Darien restaurants and enjoy some fantastic deals while they last! Find the compete list of participating restaurants here. (Note: You need to purchase a Shop Local, Shop Darien card for $5 at City Hall or participating restaurants.)

· Saturday is the “Biggest Sale in Woodridge,” the Woodridge Park District’s All-Village Garage Sale! “The 20th Annual All Village Garage Sale is back again! Come early for great prices on hidden treasures at Woodridge’s biggest garage sale of the year. This event will be held at Echo Point Park, which features a beautifully shaded trail for you to follow as you search for a bargain. Munchies are available for purchase to snack on while you shop. Concessions will be coordinated and sold by a Relay for Life Team.” The event runs from 8:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. on Saturday at Echo Point Park, 8115 Woodridge Drive.
· Don’t forget that the massive “State Wars 9,” the United States Roller Hockey Championship, is going on all weekend at the Darien Sportsplex (451 Plainfield Road, Darien) featuring 293 teams and nearly 3,000 players from across the nation, from the under-6 group through elite adults. (Darien also hosted the event in 2010.) The event runs from July 31 through Aug. 11 with games all day, every single day, all at the Sportsplex and all free to attend.
