Building Collapse In Decatur; Public Should Stay Away: Officials
Fire officials said the building began to collapse Tuesday afternoon in the area of Wabash Avenue and Martin Luther King Jr. Drive.
DECATUR, IL — Police are asking residents to stay away from a collapsing building in the area of Wabash Avenue and Martin Luther King Jr. Drive Tuesday afternoon, officials said.
Firefighters on the scene told Patch the four-story building began collapsing Tuesday and is already hitting the street below. According to authorities, a portion of the third and fourth floors are falling down.
Officials did not immediately respond to questions on how the building began to collapse or if any injuries were reported.

Officials said residents should stay away from the area until further notice. The area was still closed off as of 4 p.m. Tuesday.
