Deerfield Red Takes Title

Local 10U team gets third tournament trophy in Milwaukee.

A nine run first inning propelled the Deerfield Red 10U baseball team to the Wisconsin Youth Umpires Association Milwaukee Open tournament championship with a 16-6 victory over Oak Creek in the title game last weekend in Milwaukee. 

After winning its first three games, Red hitters Ford DeLoss, Billy Agins, Evan Orloff, Craig Bouslog and Jack Sodikoff all had extra base hits in the opening frame including homers from Bouslog and Agins. 

Other contributions came from Kevin Marshall and Matthew Dawson in the championship encounter.

In the tourney opener, Red stopped Greenfield, 9-4, before notching victories over another Oak Creek team, 14-1, and Whitefish Bay, 16-14. 

Additional players chipping in to the overall effort were Ben Kraemer, Ryan Nagelbach, Adam Pottinger and Ari Rosen.

The squad is 19-3 for the season with three tournament championships under its belt.
