Update: Snow Forces Park District, Library To Alter Schedules

Park programs and library join schools in changing programs and hours because of the snow storm.

(Update at 10:15 a.m. Tuesday) The Patty Turner Center just closed for the day today and the Sachs Recereation Center will close at 6 p.m. because of the snow, according to Deerfiedl Park District Communications and Foundation Manager Darla Kuhs.

At this time, the offices at Jewett Park Community Center plan to remain open for regitration until 5 p.m.

(Update at 9:45 a.m. Tuesday) All programs at the Deerfield Park District are cancelled today because of the snow and the Deerfield Public Library will close at 1 p.m.

The Park District has cancelled all activities, according to Communications and Foundation Manager Darla Kuhs. The Sachs Recreation Center remains open for now but Kuhs suggests people check by phone or online before going there.

The Park District offices at Jewett Park also remain open for now for registration but that could also change, according to Kuhs.

(Earlier at 9:48 p.m. Monday) All Deerfield schools will close Tuesday in anticipation of the storm expected to drop as much as 10 inches of snow in the area, according to weather.com.

An email from District 109 indicated there will be no school Tuesday. At this time, all after school activities are off as well, according to District Communications Director Cathy Kedjidjian.

All classes and after school activity at Deerfield High School are cancelled, according to Township High School District Communications Director Natalie Kaplan. She said after school events would be reassessed by 1 p.m. and details would be published on the school website.

According to the Holy Cross website, there will be no school there Tuesday. School will not be held at Chicagoland Jewish High School Tuesday either, according to its website.

Deerfield Public Works Director Barbara Little urges drivers to remain off the roads as much as possible Tuesday. “We will be out clearing the roads,” Little said at Monday’s Village Board meeting. “Please stay off the roads at rush hour.”
