Final D109 End of School Calendar Set

The following is from District 109:

Thanks to this winter’s severe weather, our schools were closed for four days, requiring us to use the emergency days that are always built into the calendar. Now that we’re sure those days are behind us (we are optimists!), the Board approved the final calendar to set the schedule for the last days of school:

• The last day of school for kindergarten students in Monday, June 9, 2014.
  
• The last day of school for grades 1-7 is Tuesday, June 10, 2014. New laws put into place this school year dictate that the last day of school is a full day of student attendance. Principals will communicate with parents and staff at their buildings about the events and activities planned for that day. 
  
• Eighth grade promotion ceremonies for middle school students remains unchanged, and eighth grade students are not required to return to school after they are promoted. Middle schools will send further information to eighth grade families as necessary in the coming weeks. The dates are Tuesday, June 3 (Shepard) and Wednesday, June 4 (Caruso).
