Holiday Traffic Safety Campaign In Lake County Results Released: Sheriff
The campaign, which resulted in 58 traffic stops, ran from Dec. 12 through Jan. 5.
LAKE COUNTY, IL — Logging in 43 hours of "dedicated enforcement time," deputies from the Lake County Sheriff's Office made 58 traffic stops during its recent holiday traffic safety campaign. The campaign ran from Dec. 12 last year through Jan. 5.
The results of the campaign included:
- 2 DUI arrests
- 7 arrests for driving without a valid driver's license
- 28 speeding citations
- 9 occupant restraint citations
- 2 electronic device use citations
- 28 other traffic citations
LCSO partnered with the Illinois Department of Transportation and law enforcement agencies statewide for the "Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over," "Drive High. Get a DUI," and "Click It or Ticket" traffic safety campaigns. The focus was on removing impaired drivers from the road and ensuring that motorists were properly buckled.

The holiday enforcement campaign was administered by IDOT with federal highway safety funds managed by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration and is part of Illinois' "It's Not a Game" statewide media outreach program.
