Hosta Society Honors Two Deerfield Families
Annual garden walk comes to Deerfield July 8.
The Northern Illinois Hosta Society has chosen two Deerfield homes for its annual garden walk from 2 to 5 p.m. July 8.
People can tour the gardens of Bob and Sue Gottlieb (675 Carlisle Avenue) as well as Andi and Sam Solomon (620 Carriage Way) during those hours. Admission is free and entire families as well as their dogs are welcome, according to Bob Gottlieb.
Exclusively featuring the Hosta plant, the Northern Illinois Hosta Society is the local chapter of the American Hosta Society.

“Hostas are the number one perennial plant,” Gottlieb said. “They are known for their shade, tolerance and hardiness. There are over 7000 different varieties of hostas. New varieties come out every year.”
The Gottliebs have over 450 different varieties in their garden while the Solomons have approximately 200.
