A dispute between two people over an unleashed pit bull in Maplewood Park June 4 resulted in the dog’s owner punching the other person in the face, according to . 

The victim was walking his two dogs on a leash at approximately 5 p.m. in the park when he saw the assailant with his unleashed pet in the park. The victim approached the assailant who “did not take kindly to being approached,” according to the report. 

After they “briefly debated the matter” the assailant landed a punch above the victim’s eye, according to the report. The assailant fled with his dog toward the vicinity of Deerfield Road and Jonquil Terrace when the victim said he was calling the police. Police conducted a canvass of the area which did not produce an identification of the assailant.
