Police Blotter: Police Follow Car for 2 Miles, Make DUI Stop

DUI
Stephanie Hammar, 46, of Colorado Springs was arrested June 26 for driving under the influence, according to Deerfield Police reports.
Police spotted Hammar swerving within her lane near the intersection of Osterman Avenue and Waukegan Road and followed her until she swerved close to the median near the Interstate 294 Spur before stopping her, according to the report.

Hammar failed a field sobriety test after the officer smelled alcohol from her breath and she demonstrated slurred speech, according to the report. The results of her breath test were .104. She was released on $3,000 bond and will appear in Lake County Criminal Court at 9 a.m. July 11 in Waukegan.
Theft from Automobile

An I-pad, Garmin GPS, radar detector, credit card and vehicle registration were stolen June 25 from a parked car in front of the owner’s residence on Elm Street, according to Deerfield police reports.
The victim did not remember whether or not the car was locked. The car has an alarm and the victim did not hear it go off, according to the report.
Bicycle Theft
A bicycle was taken June 26 from the area near the bike rack at Caruso Middle School, according to Deerfield Police reports. There was neither a lock nor a chain on the bicycle.
Yard Theft
A lawn ornament was taken June 29 from the back of a Deerfield home on Northwoods Drive, according to Deerfield Police reports.
