Police Follow Suspect, Make Arrest

The following arrest information was supplied by the Deerfield Police Department. It does not indicate a conviction.

Retail Theft

Robin Piper, 48, of Northbrook was arrested Feb. 11 for retail theft after Deerfield police spotted her walking in the 600 block of Waukegan Road, became suspicious, followed her and made the apprehension, according to Deerfield Police reports.

According to the report, Piper is “known to this department and surrounding police agencies as having a problem with alcohol. When (she) becomes intoxicated she is known to enter various retail establishments to steal.”

After police saw her walking into Whole Foods, they alerted store management, according to the report. The store began surveillance and Piper left without being seen taking anything by police. The officer then followed her into Barnes & Noble. The officer remembered the store had a “no trespass” order against her there for a previous incident.

When police confronted her at Barnes & Noble and asked her to leave, she was also questioned about her trip to Whole Foods, according to the report. She admitted to taking items from the grocery store. She was released on bond and will appear in Lake County Court at 3 p.m. March 5 in Park City.

Driver’s License Infractions

Daniel Nicholson, 44, of Lake Forest was arrested Feb. 12 for driving on a suspended license, according to Deerfield Police reports. Police observed Nicholson driving in the vicinity of Wilmot and Deerfield Roads with an expired registration. After the stop, police learned his license was suspended. He was released on bond and will appear in Lake County Court at 1:30 p.m. March 19 in Park City.
