Services Day Shows Sense of Community
State Sen. Julie Morrison offers opportunity for people to get health checks, adopt a pet and more.
A person needing a blood pressure check, wishing to adopt a pet and more had those opportunities as part of state Sen. Julie Morrison’s (D-Deerfield) initial Community Services Day Saturday in Deerfield.
The Wellness Bus, a joint effort of Deerfield based Walgreens and the National Urban League, made one of its national tour stops to offer a variety of health tests while Orphans of the Storm had dogs and cats available for adoption.
Representatives of the West Deerfield Township Food Pantry were there as well letting people know about the organization in a unique way.

“We ask them to put together a meal for four for $10 from this,” West Deerfield Township Supervisor Alyson Feiger said as she stood in front of two tables of non perishable food items.
