Walgreens May Sales Up 4.3%

Profits are up for Walgreens, headquartered in Deerfield.

Deerfield-based Walgreens experienced May sales of $6.22 billion, an increase of 4.3 percent compared with May 2012, according to the company's website.

May pharmacy sales increased by 4.4 percent, while total front-end sales increased 3.4 percent, reported Walgreens. 

Revenues from stores open at least a year rose 2.8 percent in May, reported the Associated Press, as posted on Yahoo! Finance. Revenue at these particular stores are a key indicator of Walgreens' financial health because it doesn't include the impact of recently opened or closed stores, according to the report.

Total sales for the third quarter of 2013 were $18.34 billion, up 3.3 percent from $17.75 billion in the third quarter of fiscal 2012, reported Walgreens.
