Warriors Keep Winning on Court, in Gym

Volleyball team tops Highland Park while tennis and badminton squads down Glenbrook South.

Volleyball 

The Final Score:        Deerfield defeated Highland Park 25-22 and 25-18.

Warriors Star Performers:              Zach Hara notched 11 kills, had five digs and served three aces. Jordan Fine dished out 24 assists, had eight digs and served an ace while John Harlan contributed seven digs, five kills and an ace.

Other Notable Warrior Performances:       Jake Brody had nine digs and an assist while Kenison Ready had four digs and four kills. Eli Schmidt had five kills and a pair of digs while Eric Slepian added three digs and two kills.

Who’s Next:   The Warriors compete in the Lake County Invitational at 5 p.m. Friday in Vernon Hills. 

The Bottom Line:      “The boys came out and played hard and with confidence,” Coach Eugene Chung said. “We did a better job minimizing our errors tonight especially in the area of serving.” The Warriors are 4-0 for the season and 2-0 in the Central Suburban League North Division. 

Badminton 

The Final Score:        Deerfield 10, Glenbrook South 8 

Warriors Star Performers:   Winning in both singles and doubles were Cara Silverman, Katie Frankel, Geri Soren and Lauren Spungen. Silverman teamed with Soren in doubles while Frankel was joined Ally Kolpas and Spungen paired with Laura Holzman. 

Other Notable Warrior Performances:       Others adding victories for Deerfield were Nicki Flynn and Maddie Wilson in singles and the doubles team of Samantha Merkin and Abby Rosenbaum. 

Who’s Next:   The Warriors entertain Schaumburg at 4:30 p.m. Friday.

Tennis 

The Final Score:        Deerfield 7, Glenbrook South 0.

 

Warriors Star Performers:              Toby Ma, Jack Kasbeer and Tim Klabjan were the singles winners.

Other Notable Warrior Performances:       Taking doubles victories were the tandems of Harrison Crist and Noah Rosenblat, George Vanderkloot and Bryan Rosenberg, Andrew Pekin and Chris Casati along with the duo of Lee Ratner and Zach Keeshin. 

Who’s Next:   The Warriors entertain Fremd, Stevenson and Lake Forest in a Quadrangular at 8:30 a.m. Saturday.
