Des Plaines Cops to Host National Night Out

The event to heighten crime and drug prevention awareness will be held Aug. 6

The Des Plaines Police Department will be acknowledging National Night Out from 5  to 8 p.m., Tuesday, Aug. 6, 2013, in the north parking lot of Maine West High School, 1755 S. Wolf Road. Members of the Police Department invite and encourage the community to attend.

The event will include a display of police and fire department vehicles, presentations, a climbing wall, face painters, and several other displays. A variety of educational/safety materials will be available.

According to Des Plaines Police Officer Mike Meyer, “National Night Out was initiated as a means of heightening crime and drug prevention awareness and support. On a local level we are hoping to create neighborhood spirit and form partnerships between the community and the Police Department.”
