Des Plaines Man Charged with Sexual Abuse, Possession of Child Porn

Des Plaines police investigation leads to charges.

announced Wednesday that they have charged a Des Plaines man with aggravated criminal sexual abuse and possession of child pornography following an eight-month investigation.

According to the report, police investigated an alleged criminal sexual abuse case involving James Brewer, 49, in July. The victims were juvenile family members not residing with Brewer. An investigation led to Brewer being charged with two counts of aggravated criminal sexual abuse.

Detectives seized and analyzed computers and digital media from Brewer’s residence, and, according to the report, numerous files of child pornography were discovered. Brewer was charged with nine counts of aggravated possession of child pornography. The files were not related to the sexual abuse investigation.

Brewer is awaiting arraignment in the Second District Courthouse in Skokie.
