The Des Plaines Police Department began the investigation into Liedke on March 2, after Mount Prospect police contacted them regarding a possible child pornography case, according to the report. Des Plaines police completed the investigation because the suspect resides in Des Plaines and because Des Plaines has detectives assigned to the Cook County Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force, or ICAC.

Detectives began the investigation by seizing a computer, internal hard drives and digital media owned by Liedke, which led to a search warrant to analyze the digital media, police said.

Liedke was first charged with one count of aggravated possession of child pornography. After the analysis of the digital media was complete, he was charged with a total of 20 counts.

Liedke is free on bond, and his court date is April 16 at Skokie courthouse.
