DNA Ties Man To Sexual Assault At Gunpoint In Des Plaines: Prosecutors
Authorities said a man currently awaiting trial on domestic battery and gun charges beat, robbed and raped a woman he met online last year.

DES PLAINES, IL — Authorities said DNA evidence links a Chicago man with a lengthy criminal record to the sexual assault of a woman last year in her Des Plaines home.
Quincy Jones, 30, of the 7000 Block of South Parnell Avenue, was ordered to remain jailed ahead of trial on a charge of aggravated criminal sexual assault with a firearm Wednesday following an initial court appearance in Skokie.
Jones met the woman online and went over to her apartment on the morning of Oct. 18, 2021, according to prosecutors. Once inside, Jones pulled out a gun and first demanded she hand over money and her iPhone, striking her in the face when she first refused to unlock it.

Cook County Assistant State's Attorney Collin DeBrabander said Jones then demanded the woman undress.
"[She] pleaded with [Jones] not to do this, to which [Jones] stated, 'I'm going to f------ shoot you if you don't,'" DeBrabander said.

The prosecutor told Cook County Associate Judge Frank Andreou that Jones continued pointing the gun at the women while forcing her into sex acts and ignoring her pleas to stop. Then, still holding a gun to the woman's head, Jones walked her to the back door of her apartment, he said.
"He then told the victim to keep her mouth shut and that if she called the police, he would return and kill one of her kids," he said.
Investigators uncovered surveillance video showing Jones' car in the neighborhood and got location data from the woman's cell phone provider. That data showed Jones' car passing through an Illinois Tollway plaza at the same time as the woman's phone, according to prosecutors.
In addition to DNA evidence that positively identified Jones as the Des Plaines woman's rapist, prosecutors said she also picked his photo out of a lineup.
Andreou ordered Jones held without bail ahead of trial, citing "the facts of this case and the criminal background of the defendant, which is extensive."
Jones' previous felony convictions include aggravated unlawful use of a weapon, possession of a stolen motor vehicle, unlawful possession of three or more credit or debit cards and unlawful use of a weapon by a felon, according to authorities. He also has five convictions for misdemeanor offenses.
Under Illinois law, a conviction for aggravated criminal assault when armed with a firearm includes 15 years of imprisonment on top of the rest of the sentence, which can range from a minimum of 6 to 30 years.

Jones, who appeared at the remote hearing from the Cook County Jail, is currently awaiting trial on six other felony charges, including accusations of illegal gun possession in Chicago and stalking, domestic battery and other offenses in Kane County.
Jones is a father of three and high school graduate who works as a barber and at a family laundromat, according to assistant public defender Greg Kobus.
On Nov. 10, 2021, Chicago police arrested Jones in the 6900 block of South Wentworth Avenue and charged him with aggravated unlawful use of a weapon and being a felon in possession of a firearm. He also had several active arrest warrants from Kane County at the time.
DeBrabander said the Kane County charges stem from incidents of domestic battery, criminal damage and threats to the mother of one of his children over the course of six weeks last year.
At one point, the prosecutor said, Jones pointed a gun at her brother, threatened him and told him "to let [his sister] know he was going to kill her."
Jones' next court appearance on the sexual assault charge is scheduled for April 20.
