City council also approved the purchase of computers for seven other 2013 Ford Interceptor SUVβs, which were approved for purchase to replace other vehicles in the fleet at the end of useful service lives by city council in June. .
The new SUV for the officer assigned to the U.S. Customs Task Force will be purchased from the lowest bidder, Landmark Ford, based in Springfield, for $25,627, according to city documents. Funding for the new SUV will come from the asset forfeiture fund, which is money seized by police during criminal investigations and cleared by the courts for the departmentβs use.
