Natural Fertilizer Grows lots of Green
Organic has more microbes and root fungus, things plants like.
Moderate temperatures and an early springtime have spurred some property owners to consider the bald spots on their lawns much earlier than previous years. Wally Schmidtke, sales manager at said this week customers asked what type of grass seed and fertilizer to use.
Schmidtke recommends an organic fertilizer, Dr. Earth brand. He said the natural type uses fishmeal for its Nitrogen, as opposed to more chemical-based sources such as those in Miracle-Gro, Ammoniacal Nitrogen and Urea Nitrogen.
The organic fertilizer has additional microbes and root fungus, which are beneficial to plant growth.
