Fountain Blue's Outdoor Tent Set Back by Zoning Board
The Des Plaines Zoning Board did not recommend approval for a conditional-use permit for the tent, which has been a controversial issue in the neighborhood.

The Des Plaines zoning board did not recommend approval of a conditional-use permit for an outdoor tent at Fountain Blue banquet hall, the Chicago Tribune reports.
The tent has been a point of contention between the banquet hall and its neighbors over noise from weddings and parties held there. Patch Local Voice Bill Dillon has accused Fountain Blue owner Tom Diamond of installing the tent without a permit and continuing to operate although he claims the business is violating the noise ordinance.

Diamond has spent $50,000 on sound mitigation for the tent and is also willing to build a sound retention wall if the city approves an extension to his conditional use permit, the Chicago Tribune reports. The zoning board’s decision is not the final say in the issue. The City Council has the final say in whether the tent stays or goes.
