Get Out: Balloon Animals, Coupon Club, Stand-up Comedy, Doris Day and More

Plenty of ways to warm up this chilly weekend with activities nearby.

Why Go: Did you ever want to learn how to make those cool balloon animals that you see at parties? Well now you can. With just a little practice, children will learn the techniques needed to take a plain balloon and transform it into a fascinating balloon animal creation (like dogs, butterflies, swords, etc.) And at the end of the class children will get to take home all of the things that they made. This class isn’t just for the kids. Parents are more than welcome to join their children in the class, at no extra charge.

Why Go: The Girl Scouts of America were founded in March 1912 by Juliette Gordon Low, a wealthy socialite living in Savannah, Georgia, and Great Britain. Join us as Betsey Means, an actress who specializes is historical portrayals, reenacts Ms. Low's life and the founding of Girl Scouting.

Chicago Stand-up Comedy at the Des Plaines Theatre

Where/When: The Des Plaines Theatre, 1476 Miner St., from 7:30 p.m. to 9 p.m. on Saturday, March 3.

Why Go: The first show at The Des Plaines Theatre on Feb. 4 was an amazing night of stand up comedy in the suburbs. If you know anyone that came to this show, they would tell you that the comedy was amazing and it truly was a special night of entertainment. This show is no different, and we look forward to bringing the best Chicago and Chicago suburb comedians to this fantastic venue in the heart of downtown Des Plaines. This month we come out swinging with four incredibly funny comedians that should be gracing a wonderful stage such as this.

Pricing: Tickets are $10 online, $12 at the door.
