Hazmat Team Responds to Drug Investigation

The police encountered unknown chemicals.

Amber Hane, 21, of the 200 block of Norman Court in Des Plaines, and Damian Zabielski, 20, of the 500 block of Kathleen Drive, were charged with delivery of a controlled substance and possession of a controlled substance after undercover tactical officers purchased two grams of a hallucinogenic drug, DMT, dimethyltryptamine, from the two offenders at approximately 1 p.m. on May 25, police stated on Monday.

According to the report, Hane gave the officers consent to search the residence in the 200 block of Norman Court. During the search police found unknown substances and called the fire department.

The Des Plaines Fire Department responded and called Mutual Aid Box Alarm System, MABAS, Hazmat team and Illinois State Police. The MABAS Hazmat team conducted their investigation and determined that the substances as found were not toxic or explosive and were recovered by the Illinois State Police.
