Motorcyclist, 60, Killed After Being Struck By Car: Des Plaines PD
Police have not determined a cause of the Saturday night crash involving a juvenile driver.
DES PLAINES, IL — Police are still determining the cause of a Saturday evening crash that killed a 60-year-old Des Plaines man. John E. Lawson was driving his 2020 Honda motorcycle when he was struck by a car. Lawson was taken to Advocate Lutheran General Hospital in Park Ridge, where he was later pronounced dead, according to police.
A police investigation has revealed Lawson was turning left onto westbound Golf Road from northwest Rand Road when he was struck by a 2013 Kia Optima, driven by a male juvenile, at around 9:30 p.m. The juvenile was traveling southeast on Rand Road at the time of the collision.
The driver and two passengers of the Kia were taken to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. Lawson was pronounced dead at 10:21 p.m. due to multiple injuries, according to the Cook County Medical Examiner.
