Mount Prospect Filled Floodwall Gap to Protect Residents

The Mount Prospect Village Manager is firing back after allegations that the community is partially to blame for the widespread flooding in Des Plaines, the Journal & Topics Newspaper reports.

Manager Mike Janonis said the village was only protecting its residents when officials decided to fill a gap in the River Road floodwall last week, which violated state regulations. D forcing flood waters to flow downstream into Des Plaines.

Janonis told the Journal & Topics, “to the extent we did something we shouldn’t have, we will take our lumps. We protected our residents.”
