One Fatality after Vehicle Hits Pedestrian

Deputy Chief Angela Burton said the victim was identified, but that information has not been released yet.

Burton said no one else, including the driver of the vehicle, a Chevrolet Malibu, was taken to the hospital. She said the woman was crossing the street at the time of the crash.

A 46-year-old woman was fatally struck by a vehicle travelling westbound on Oakton Street at 5th Avenue around 5:30 a.m. on Tuesday, according to a press release filed by today.

The intersection is northwest of Lake Opeka.

The scene is being processed and an investigation is underway, according to the release. No charges are pending at this time.
