Theft

Police stated three unknown male subjects, estimated to be between 17 and 18 years old, entered R&J Liquor and Pantry, 699 N. Wolf Road, sometime between 9:21 p.m. and 9:25 p.m. on April 6, and one of the subjects left the store with an adult magazine without paying for it.

When the clerk asked the young man for identification to purchase the adult magazine, according to the report, he said, “Uh OK I forgot my ID in the car. I’ll just go get it.” According to the report, he then grabbed the magazine, ran out the door without paying for it, and left a plastic bag with live goldfish in it on the counter.

According to the report, one of the other young offenders appeared to be using a camera to videotape the incident.

The three young men were seen getting into an unknown make and model white vehicle parked at the Phillips 66 gas station, 680 N. Wolf Road, and leaving the scene traveling northbound on Wolf Road.

The clerk at the gas station told police, according to the report, earlier, the three described young men purchased several snack items from the store, and one of them placed a plastic bag with goldfish on the counter and said, according to the report, “Here you go, it’s a gift.”

After leaving the store, the same male subject came back in and told the clerk, according to the report, “I’m sorry man, I’m gonna have to take the fish back.” He then took the bag of fish and left without incident.

Luis E. Gomez-Garcia, 19, of Des Plaines, was charged with unlawful possession of alcohol after police observed him carrying a bottle of tequila while walking in the 800 block of E. Oakton Street at 10:15 p.m. on April 6. He was given a court date of April 24 at Skokie courthouse.

Drinking in Public

Joseph N. Sykes, 56, of Des Plaines, was charged with drinking in public after police stated he was observed drinking a can of beer at a basketball court in the 2100 block of S. Pine Street at 4:26 p.m. on April 6.
