Thursday Blotter: Man Leaves Accident Scene, Catalytic Converters Stolen, More

Battery
Dani Katz, 18, of Elk Grove Village, was charged with battery after reportedly leaving an accident scene between 11:13 p.m. and 11:53 p.m. on May 26. Police stated Katz and the driver of another vehicle were involved in a traffic accident in the 2400 block of S. Lee Street, and both drivers got out of their vehicles to survey the damage.

According to the report, Katz told the other driver there was nothing wrong with his vehicle, and he was going to leave. Police stated the other driver stood in front of Katz’s vehicle to prevent him from leaving, but, Katz drove up on the median to go around him, and struck him in the knee with his vehicle before leaving the scene.
Katz was stopped by Rosemont police near I-90 and Higgins Road.

Katz was issued three traffic citations and given a court date of June 18 at Skokie courthouse.

A catalytic converter was removed from a Lexus SUV parked on the second level of the library’s parking garage, 1444 E. Prairie Ave., sometime between 9 a.m. and 5:45 p.m. on May 29. Property loss was estimated at $100.
Theft
Police stated a catalytic converter was removed from a Toyota SUV parked in the Metropolitan Square parking garage, 648 Metropolitan Way, sometime between noon on May 14 and noon on May 26. Property loss was estimated at $1,500.
