Thursday Blotter: Person Seen Looking in Bedroom Window, Trailer Stolen, Slashed Tires, More

Vehicle Theft
Police responded to a vehicle theft report at Nippon Express, 401 E. Touhy Ave., at 4:27 p.m. on March 9. According to the report, between 4 a.m. and 4:45 a.m. on March 9, an unknown offender removed a trailer from the parking lot with a white truck. The owner of the trailer told police that the theft was recorded on surveillance video, but it is unclear.

Criminal Damage to Vehicle
Police were dispatched to a vandalism report at an apartment complex in the 100 block of Dover Drive at 7:09 a.m. on March 10. According to the report, sometime between 4:30 p.m. on March 9 and 7:08 a.m. on March 10, someone slashed all four tires on a truck. According to the report, there is an ongoing dispute amongst the residents at the complex regarding parking.

Suspicious Incident
Police responded to a report of a suspicious subject looking in a bedroom window of a residence in the 600 block of Beau Court at 12:50 a.m. on March 12. According to the report, at 12:48 a.m. the complainant saw a person looking into her bedroom window. Police checked the area but did not locate the offender.
Suspicious Circumstances
Police were dispatched for a suspicious circumstances report in the 1600 block of S. Illinois Street at 9:40 a.m. on March 9. According to the report, the complainant left her door open while she was working downstairs because she was expecting a friend. Then, she heard the screened door and front door open, and she called up to her friend. She heard both doors close, and when she went upstairs to investigate she saw a car backing from her driveway. The vehicle, described as a 1970’s dark blue car with a long hood and loud muffler, was being driven possibly by a white male subject approximately in his 20s. Police searched the area but did not locate the offender.
Possession of Cannabis
While on patrol, police observed to men playing basketball in Einstein Park, 355 W. Walnut Ave., at 11:23 p.m. on March 9. According to the report, while police were speaking with the two men, one of the officers observed two cigar blunts and cigar wrappers in the center console cup holder of a green Ford Escape SUV. When police asked the men about the blunts, the driver of the SUV, according to the report, told police it was his girlfriend’s vehicle, there was cannabis inside, and police had consent to search it.
While one of the officers was searching the SUV, one of the men, Michal P. Kozlowski, 18, of Mount Prospect, said he had the cannabis that was in the SUV. According to the report, Kozlowski then pulled out two small, clear plastic baggies containing a green, leafy substance from his jacket pocket. No other items or contraband were found in the vehicle.
Kozlowski was issued a citation for possession of cannabis.
