Tuesday Blotter: Man Allegedly Attempts to Steal Cheese and Coffee, Frozen Coconut Goes Missing, More

Retail Theft
Police responded to a intoxicated subject report at Shop & Save Market, 518 Metropolitan Way, at 5:39 p.m. on Feb. 27. According to the report, John Dennis Pembor, 51, of Park Ridge, was observed placing six packages of various deli cheese and two bags of Dunkin’ Donuts ground coffee inside his jacket before going into the produce department and attempting to exit the store. Property loss was estimated at $72.90.

Police reported Pembor appeared to be highly intoxicated. He was charged with retail theft and given a court date of March 29 at Skokie courthouse.

Theft
Police were dispatched for a suspicious incident in the 600 block of E. Greenview Avenue at 6:18 p.m. on Feb. 27. According to the report, the victim heard a noise near the front of the residence at about 1 a.m. on Feb. 27. He discovered his front door storm door had been opened, despite being locked, at approximately 6 p.m. on Feb. 27.
Additionally, according to the report, the victim left some frozen coconut in the backyard to thaw on Feb. 24, and discovered it was missing the following morning on Feb. 25.
Criminal Damage to Property
Police were dispatched for a vandalism report to Emergency Nurses Association, 915 S. Lee St., at 7:24 a.m. on Feb. 27. According to the report, sometime between 11 a.m. on Feb. 25 and 6:50 a.m. on Feb. 27 an unknown offender damaged signage on the property with a red marker. Property loss was estimated at $50.
Two additional locations, Good News Christian Church at 815 Lee St. and White Collar Services at 809 Lee St., were reported to have similar vandalism with a red marker.
