Battery, Drinking in Public/Open Alcohol

William A. Taylor, Jr., 23, of Franklin Park, was charged with drinking in public/open alcohol after an altercation at Lake Opeka between 4:39 p.m. and 4:40 p.m., according the report.

Police stated while a witness was fishing at Lake Park, Taylor became verbally abusive towards a Park District employee regarding the bathroom situation. The witness told Taylor to leave the employee alone, and, according to the report, Taylor became angry. With both arms, according to the report, Taylor attempted to take the witness down to the ground. The witness told police, that prior to their arrival on the scene, he wrestled Taylor and threw him into the lake.

Police did not report any injuries on Taylor or the witness, and the witness did not wish to sign complaints.

Police reported Taylor was verbally abusive toward the responding officer, and smelled of alcohol. Police recovered a bottle of tequila from Taylor’s pants pocket and transported him to the station, where he was charged with drinking in public/open alcohol, and given a court date of April 26 at Skokie courthouse.

Criminal Damage to Motor Vehicle

Police responded to a vandalism report in the 1500 block of E. Miner Street at 10:02 p.m. on April 6. Police stated the driver of a vehicle waiting to turn left at the intersection of Miner Street and River Road heard a loud noise that sounded like a bottle breaking come from the front passenger area of the vehicle.

According to the report, the driver exited the vehicle and observed a small dent and paint chip on the driver’s side door, and a broken beer bottle on the roadway. While making the discovery, another beer bottle was seen being thrown from the direction of the condominium building at 711 S. River Road, but the person throwing the bottle was not seen. Property loss was estimated at $60.

Criminal Damage to Vehicle

Police stated sometime between 5 p.m. on April 6 and 11:30 a.m. on April 7, an unknown offender scratched the passenger side door and rear wheel well, possibly using a key, of a vehicle parked in an indoor parking garage in the 500 block of S. Alles Street. Property loss was estimated at $250.
