Where to register, hours, what you need, what to do if you miss the cutoff.

The deadline to register to vote in the general election in Illinois is Tuesday, Oct. 9. Here are three locations in the Des Plaines area where you can register, and some information in case you miss the cutoff.

What to do if you miss it:
The Cook County Clerkβs offices will offer grace-period registration from Oct. 10 to Nov. 3 at each of the offices including at Skokie courthouse, 5600 W. Old Orchard Road, and the Rolling Meadows courthouse, 2121 Euclid Ave.
Those who register during the grace period vote on touch screen voting equipment immediately after registering, according to the Cook County Clerkβs website. For more information on grace-period voting registration, visit the clerkβs website.
You may also cast a provisional ballot, but you have to register with the Cook County Clerkβs Office in order for it to be counted. For more information on provisional voting, visit the Cook County Clerkβs website.
