District 58 Earns Four State-Level Communications Awards

District 58 earned an Award of Excellence, INSPRA's highest honor, for its Communicate 58 newsletter.

The Illinois chapter of the National School Public Relations Association, or INSPRA, presented two Awards of Excellence and two Awards of Merit to Megan Hewitt, District 58 community relations coordinator, during its annual Communications Contest award ceremony on Friday, Sept. 18.

District 58 earned an Award of Excellence, INSPRA’s highest honor, for its Communicate 58 newsletter. District 58 also received an Award of Excellence for writing quality in the news article, “Partners in Art spurs creativity at Hillcrest,” published in October 2014.

District 58 received an Award of Merit for writing quality in the news article, “Distinguished Service Award recipients inspired each other,” published in May 2015. The District also won an Award of Merit for its Winter 2015 SAMRi Teacher Camp video.

The INSPRA Communications Contest annually invites school districts across Illinois to submit publications and projects for judging by a panel of communication experts. The judges use a rubric to evaluate each entry against professional communication best practices, and only the top scores receive awards.

“The contest recognizes the amazing communications work done by our members,” said INSPRA President Danielle Brink. “It also is yet another form of professional development offered to INSPRA members, as each person who enters receives valuable feedback from the contest judges.”
