New Details Emerge In Downers Grove Burglary Case

Police say officers from were surveilling a Jeep that may be linked to other nearby incidents when the robbery took place.

DOWNERS GROVE, IL — Police were surveilling a "vehicle of interest" in other incidents when they witnessed the burglary at Mr. Submarine Monday, according to a news release from the Elmhurst Police Department. The early morning burglary led to a two-car police chase ending in four arrests. Two suspects were still at large as of Thursday.

During surveillance, Elmhurst officers witnessed the vehicle of interest, a Jeep, traveling along with a Kia Soul, ahead of the burglary at Mr. Submarine at 1322 W. Ogden Ave. Around 2 a.m., Elmhurst police say two men shattered a glass door to get into the restaurant.

According to police, two women "alleged to be lookouts" were parked across the street in the Kia.

Both vehicles fled the scene, drove southbound on I-355 and were subsequently stopped by officers. Two men and two women were taken into custody and later charged. Two male suspects fled the scene on foot and had not been located as of Thursday afternoon.

The following charges were filed in connection with the incident.

  • Nadia Chillis, 34, of Chicago, was charged with burglary
  • Andrew Moore, 30, of Chicago, was charged with burglary, criminal damage to property, resisting arrest
  • Alexis Reed, 32, of Chicago was charged with burglary
  • Justen Wallace, 23, of Chicago, was charged with burglary, criminal damage to property, resisting arrest

Chillis, Moore, Reed and Wallace were granted pretrial release with conditions.
