District 99 Again Ranked 'Commendable' By Illinois Board Of Education
District 99 ranked high for its high retention and graduation rates, along with its funding and other metrics.
DOWNERS GROVE, IL — For the second year in a row, Community High School District 99 was ranked "commendable" by the Illinois State Board of Education (ISBE).
The board's annual report card reviews such metrics as:
- Attendance
- Funding
- Graduation rates
- Proficiency in English and math
- Retention
ISBE deems a school commendable if it has "no underperforming student groups, a graduation rate greater than 67 percent and whose performance is in the top 10 percent of schools statewide.

District 99's graduation rate was logged at 92 percent, per ISBE's report card. The district also has a 97 percent retention rate and 113 percent of what are considered adequate finance.
“We’re proud of the progress our schools have made and continue to make each day; both are highly rated schools in the state,” Superintendent Dr. Hank Thiele said in a statement.

He added, “The variety of our academic offerings to students is outstanding and allows our students to discover their unique path towards a future they choose.”
