Downers Grove Deals That Will Have Even Non-Fans Thanking the Cubs

Businesses are excited the Cubs are in the World Series, and we have the scoop on discounts around town.

There’s no doubt Chicago is excited about the Cubs’ participation in the World Series, and its suburbs aren't an exception. Businesses throughout Downers Grove are offering specials on food, drinks and shopping, so get in on the action before discounts are over. You might notice a trend with the numbers below...

  1. Support the team and shopping local by spending $19.08 or more downtown on World Series game days — if you’re one of the first four shoppers to bring your receipts to the Downtown Downers Grove office at 933A Curtiss St., you’ll win a $10 gift certificate to shop around town. The winner for this Saturday’s certificates will be announced Monday, Oct. 31.
  2. You can get a cute stadium seat ornament for 19.08 percent off at 221 Creations right now. If you’re not in the market for tree decorations, all Cubs merchandise, including bottle openers, coasters, mugs, home decor, door mats and postcards. And, if you’re not a Cubs fun (but don’t say that out loud), the shop is offering 10 percent off of all other Chicago teams merchandise. The store is located at 1008 Curtiss St., Suite 2.
  3. If you’re a fitness buff — or want to become one — the SPENGA gym downtown is running a deal. You’ll get a discount If you buy any of their packages, since for a limited time, all sessions will be $19.08 per class. That makes their five-session package $95.40, down from $125.
  4. Gatto’s Restaurant has an ongoing special for World Series games: during any of them, you can get domestic beers and house wines for half-off at their bar on Main St.
  5. Okay, so maybe it isn’t a DEAL per se, but how often can you get these sweet treats? Louisa & Millie’s Chocolates are making custom Cubs-themed delicacies while they’re in the World Series.
