Downers Grove Police Plan Heightened Traffic Enforcement over Labor Day Weekend

The department is participating in a year-long initiative with IDOT that focuses on impaired driving and seat belt enforcement.

The  will have heightened patrols over Labor Day weekend as it cracks down on impaired driving and seat belt violations.

During the holiday, police urge drivers to plan a safe way home if they plan on drinking. If residents see a drunk driver on the road, they should immediately call 911.

Under Illinois law, all drivers and vehicle passengers are required to wear a seat belt.

The Labor Day crackdown is part of a year-long partnership with the Illinois Department of Transportation (IDOT), and is funded with an IDOT traffic grant totaling $33,000.
